This conversation is going to be so good and one of the reasons why you stood out to (0:14) me as an AI person is that you really focus on the authenticity that we can still have (0:22) even when using AI. And I love that you say you work with down-to-earth entrepreneurs because (0:28) those are my kids too. And we can still leverage AI tools in our business and life without wasting (0:37) time or sacrificing the authenticity.
And I think that is huge. So many of my people hesitate with (0:43) delegating out copywriting or other things because they don't want to lose their voice, (0:50) their authentic voice. It still wants it to sound like them.
They don't want to lose their (0:53) thought leadership because like that is what has gotten them to the level of success that (1:00) they have thus far. So we don't want to, obviously we don't want to sacrifice that (1:04) to then get to the next level. But we're being pulled in so many directions as business owners.
(1:11) If we could save time, obviously, of course, yes, we would love to do that. (1:15) So how can we, I want to explore how can we use AI to get more done more quickly. (1:21) But key thing without sacrificing that quality and like, you know, actually enjoy your life too, (1:28) because that is part of, you know, what is this all about? So can you speak to us a little bit (1:33) about using AI to amplify your brand, not replace it, and really have it feel like it's coming from (1:39) a place of authenticity? Yes.
Okay, guys, I'm going to nerd out in this conversation. So look (1:45) out because I love this topic. And I totally get it.
I totally get where you're coming from. (1:49) I kind of like to share it. Like, if I'm honest, when I first heard about AI tools, I was I like (1:55) to say I was a total curmudgeon about it.
Because I always imagine like Mr. Wilson from Dennis the (2:01) Menace, like shaking my fist at the neighbor's fence, you know, like thinking, is the internet (2:06) fake enough as it is? What's this going to do to our critical thinking or creativity, (2:11) our rope is going to take over the world, you know, and, and honestly, yeah, one of my like, (2:16) probably my main concern when I first heard about AI is like, no, this is going to turn us all into (2:23) like more fake, more generic, more robotic brands, instead of leaning into our authenticity, which (2:29) is truly like the core of what I've been pushing for, like six plus years now as an entrepreneur. (2:35) And so I was kind of like, to AI tools when I first heard about it. But then I was on a long (2:43) drive.
And I had one of those long drive epiphanies. And I realized that AI tools are here (2:48) to stay. And so the best thing I can do instead of turning away from them is turn toward them and (2:54) get curious about how can we make them work for us in a way that aligns with us, right.
And so (3:00) that's what I started authentic AI, my brand. And, um, yeah, like, I really, really focus on (3:08) how can we use these tools to expand and amplify our brands instead of replacing our brands. (3:16) And I've developed what I call a human first approach to AI tools, which is, instead of (3:22) going to these tools and thinking that they're going to do all the work for you, you bring your (3:28) own ideas, opinions, beliefs to these tools, and then allow AI to help you expand your ideas, (3:37) organize your thoughts, prioritize your tasks, you know, like clarify your meandering brain dump, (3:43) but you know, idea of the day, you know, like, bringing your thoughts, ideas to these tools and (3:49) allowing them to help you get the work done that you'd already be doing a little more quickly.
(3:54) That is the best way I found to use AI tools. And you don't have to sacrifice your quality of work (4:01) or your authenticity, like, you can train these tools to fully understand your brand on like a (4:07) deep level and get way more on brand results from the get go from these tools than if you were just (4:14) like, write me an Instagram caption, like, no, that is how you get the most generic results. (4:18) And we do not want that.
Yes, yeah, getting them to understand your brand, because like, (4:24) it can do a pretty good job. But like, you've got to feed it like a couple pages of like, (4:31) you know, your brand messaging and like doing that deep work beforehand. And I love your human (4:35) first approach of like, it's not going to just like magically do all the work for you.
But you (4:41) have to bring your own ideas, opinions, beliefs, and all that to the tools. And honestly, also from (4:47) an SEO perspective, like, this is the way that it works to like, if you are just asking AI to like, (4:54) write this blog post, and you don't put any of your own thought into it, like, it's not going to (5:00) rank well, like Google knows like Google is not a dummy. And so you're going to get dinged and it's (5:07) not like SEO is not going to work in your favor.
So from an SEO perspective, this perspective makes (5:14) sense. And also just from like a human to human, I want to connect with you as a brand. That makes (5:22) sense, too.
Yeah, I mean, it's so true. We were talking about like, maintaining your authority (5:27) and your thought leadership and stuff. And so I'm always reminding people, you know, you go to these (5:33) tools, you're not like, brainstorm blog posts for me on the topic of like, social media marketing (5:38) or content creation, or whatever, like, don't focus on the topic.
Or yes, like, focus on the (5:43) topic, have it brainstorm topic ideas, but then like, think, what is my approach to this? Like, (5:49) what tips would I share for like, use your own brain still, it's a collaborative partner, (5:54) it's a creative collaborator, it's not like going to just do all the work for you. And, (5:59) and that truly is like how you can save so much time without like, I mean, we were talking, (6:07) you know, you, I, we have seen some of those big name entrepreneurs kind of like, (6:12) leaning a little too far into AI tools. And like, I've heard other people exactly.
I've heard other (6:18) people. They're like, Yeah, I loved this guy. And I unsubscribed with from him because like his (6:22) content quality just went down the drain.
But like, it doesn't have to. That's what I'm trying (6:27) to spread the message about. Yes, yes.
Like we turn to chat to BT or AI in general, like your (6:34) choice of AI to like save time. But if it's costing you your authentic voice, and which is then (6:42) costing you subscribers or leads or whatever else, then like, then is it worth it? Like you're better (6:47) off just not creating the content, maybe at that point, because we can sniff it out. And then it (6:53) immediately is just such a turnoff.
Like I will immediately X out, delete the email, whatever it (6:58) is and be like, this is not what I want to hear or see. And I've noticed, gosh, even over on LinkedIn, (7:07) people are giving like chat to BT responses, like as comments to like respond to your comments. I'm (7:12) like, you need to ask me to do this.
It's just wild. Like it's too much like take back your own (7:20) brain and your own thoughts. And like, let's connect as humans.
(7:24) Yes, I completely agree. And like how I use AI tools is literally like it again, it's like that (7:32) collaborative partner, you know, it's bringing your own thoughts, ideas, opinions to these tools (7:36) first. And firstly, training on your brand is so huge, because then it has that like foundational (7:41) jumping off point.
And then on top of that, telling it, this is what I believe that's here (7:45) are my thoughts on this process, or like, you know, method, topic, whatever. Also, like, here's (7:51) my brain dump about this project I want to do help me organize it, and then I figure it out and stuff, (7:57) right. And like, and remembering that AI isn't always going to fully read your brain or give you (8:03) the right like tips or thoughts that align with you, it's up to you to lead the conversation.
(8:09) And then on the back end, making sure that you are reading through this up, making sure it sounds (8:16) like you and using the time that you save with these tools to still be a human in other ways, (8:21) like actually replying to comments without using GBT, or like, I show up on stories every day, (8:29) you know, and like, that's my way of like, still really maintaining my brand's humanness showing (8:33) my face like that sort of stuff, too. So it's like, it's a balance guys. And it's really about (8:38) using these tools in a human first way, I think.
Yeah. Yeah. Another thing we talked about was (8:46) you integrating AI into your content creation workflow.
So I'm curious what that looks like (8:53) for you, because this is something I talked about as well. But I would love to hear your (8:56) expertise on the AI side of that. Yeah, definitely.
So the very first thing that I always like to do (9:05) is have my people create what I call a brand blueprint for ChatGPT. This is what I call (9:11) the ultimate AI training doc. And the very cool thing is that ChatGPT can actually help you create (9:17) this.
I was chuckling because you're like, yeah, you definitely need to upload like a few pages of (9:22) like your brand messaging into ChatGPT. So yeah, my brand blueprint is 80 pages. And my students (9:28) are usually like 150.
But guys, don't be scared because like ChatGPT can help you create a (9:33) document like this that is in like four hours is the average of like creation time. But literally, (9:39) I like to include the five core strategies of my brand in my brand blueprint, your core identity, (9:46) mission, vision, values, beliefs, what makes your brand who it is, your ideal customers, (9:51) of course, because we need to know who we're speaking to. So that's going deeper than the (9:56) demographics and the lifestyle.
It's the pain points, it's desires, it's who you are to them, (10:02) your relationship, all that stuff, your brand voice, of course. And this is where I nerd out (10:07) because like you, I'm totally a word nerd. And I am one of those people who's like very particular (10:13) about how I write my copy.
And so it like you should be. Yes. Right.
And like, so it it's I'm (10:23) very, very like hard on ChatGPT writes copy for me. And it just like makes me so giddy when it (10:29) can actually understand like my asides that I put in parentheses and the dorky jokes that I make and (10:35) the wordsmithing that I do because I'm like how you get me ChatGPT. So anyway, it goes so much (10:41) deeper than like, just be friendly.
Of course, you know this, it's your formatting, it's your (10:47) emoji usage, it's your humor style, all these things can help ChatGPT write copy like you. (10:53) In your brand blueprint, I also really like to include your offer suite so that ChatGPT can (10:59) strategize for you, right? Thinking about if you just upload your brand blueprint, (11:04) it already understands your entire offer suite from your freebies to your paid offers. So then (11:11) when you're creating content, you can just be like, naturally lead this to a call to action (11:15) for my real prompt playbook or whatever it is, you know.
And then also your messaging, (11:20) of course, and your messaging includes your brand storytelling and like the topics that (11:25) really light you up and your approach and your angle to things, right? So that it can kind of (11:30) approach everything from that angle. So starting with that like super deep dive brand foundation, (11:36) I outline all that into just one Google document that I call the brand blueprint and then that's a (11:42) living document that you can just upload one click, ChatGPT can read it in five to ten seconds (11:49) and then it already has all of that knowledge to kick off your conversation, right? So like, (11:55) that's a great place to start for anyone using ChatGPT for content creation. And the cool thing (12:01) too is that you can actually create brand blueprints for your clients as well.
If you (12:05) create content for clients or anything like that, I have, you know, brand blueprints. Actually, (12:11) fun little nerdy thing. If you have a paid account for ChatGPT, you can create custom GPTs.
(12:16) They're kind of like brand bots that are already shaped on your brand, right? So you could create (12:21) a brand bot for every client and stuff. It's kind of fun. But having that first foundational (12:27) knowledge allows ChatGPT to understand your brand on that deeper level.
So then you can do (12:32) all the other things in your business, such as content creation, right? So then when it comes (12:37) to content creation, there's so many different ways that you can create content with these tools. (12:42) I know that you said you love to use videos from your clients. If they just kind of talk about a (12:48) topic and really, like, possess their authority on a topic, then use those transcripts to create (12:53) blog posts.
Well, if you throw that transcript into ChatGPT, man, it can whip up a blog post (12:59) so easily, and especially if it's already trained on the brand voice, right? So actually, that's how (13:05) I create content for my clients too. Often, I'll take Instagram Lives they've done or podcast (13:10) transcripts or video talking head transcripts and turn those into blog posts, which then you can (13:15) turn into emails and social media content. And ChatGPT is so great for repurposing in that way.
(13:21) But starting with that initial, this is what I think, and here's my brand voice, right? And making (13:28) sure in my prompts with ChatGPT, I'm like, please make sure that you include all of the information (13:34) that my client talked about. And also, please use the same language that they used. That's helpful (13:40) for getting ChatGPT to not, you know, sacrifice their unique part of their brand, right? So that (13:48) is one of the ways I really love to approach content creation.
And then also, when it comes to, (13:54) like, caption writing, I have a trick that is like, so fun and so easy and like, will get you (14:00) the stuff that you want from the get go. Because especially if you're a word nerd, like me, Megan, (14:04) I feel like you're gonna like this. Because legitimately, I know what it's like to like, (14:09) be like, write me a social media caption.
And it writes something and it's like, (14:14) so generic and cheesy. And you're like, like, take out the cheese, please. And then it comes (14:20) back.
And it's like something that's so professional. And you're like, this doesn't (14:23) work either. And like, you're going back and forth with it, trying to get what you want out (14:28) of it.
And it feels like pulling teeth and you waste time. You're like, I could have done this (14:31) faster if I just did it myself. I think everyone has had that experience.
And it's so frustrating. (14:36) But what I love to do, especially for like, caption writing, if I know, if I want to write (14:43) something, I'm like, I know how I want this to flow. But like, it's, it's the nitty gritty details (14:48) that like, I don't have down yet.
Then I'll use what I call formula prompts. They're like fill in (14:54) the blank prompts, kind of like Mad Libs style, right? So if I know how I want the caption to go, (15:00) you know, for example, struggling with blank, question mark, I got you, I know what it's like (15:06) to blank. Here's what I do.
And said, blank, blank, blank, and then naturally lead to a call to (15:11) action for blank or whatever, you know what I mean? And like, it's literally Mad Libs style (15:15) and Chat GPT can super easily fill in the blanks for you. And especially if it's already trained (15:21) on your brand of voice, and it kind of knows how you talk like it can if you tell it the Mad Libs (15:26) caption, it you it knows the purpose of the post, and then you have it like fill in the blanks for (15:34) you around that man. Like, I used to spend like an hour writing every Instagram caption.
And now I (15:39) spend like five to 10 minutes creating the Instagram post. I'm like, I've saved a lot of (15:45) time. And like legitimately, I mean, I always read through everything and like make tweaks at the (15:50) end.
But like, it doesn't take that long, usually, because like I, it gave me a great starting point, (15:56) you know? Yeah, the human first approach is just like, you really can't do it any other way. (16:04) It would hurt your brand, I think more than help it without that human first piece that you talked (16:11) about. And so I feel like our conversation is kind of naturally leading into my next question is just (16:16) best prompting practices.
So it's like, okay, we talked about, okay, maybe AI, like there is a way (16:22) to use AI authentically in your business, we can incorporate it into our content creation workflow (16:26) using that brand blueprint to really train it in our voice, give it our thoughts, opinions, (16:33) details, and it can either expand or amplify or whatever else. So practically, like what are some (16:40) best prompting practices that we could try? Yeah, yes, yes, yes. Oh, so many fun things.
So (16:46) definitely like try out those formula prompts, like don't say write via social media caption, (16:51) like tell it exactly what you're looking for, whether that's mad lib style, fill in the blank, (16:56) or you're just like, you know, start with an engaging hook, empathize with the problem, (17:01) like tell it what you're looking for. And that's the best way to get the best responses out of it. (17:06) I love brain dumping into these tools, right? So a lot of people don't realize that like, (17:11) often, like you don't need the like a perfect prompt with these tools, right? It's best when (17:18) you just have a conversation back and forth naturally.
And also people don't realize that (17:23) chat TPT can understand what you're trying to say, if you were just starting to like talk to a friend (17:28) or explain something that like you don't have the word for, right? Like, so I will just like brain (17:34) dump my ideas, like just type, type, type, type, type as fast as I can into chat TPT. I don't worry (17:41) about spelling, I don't worry about correct grammar. If I can't think of a word, or I don't (17:45) know a word, I kind of describe it in the way as if I was like talking to my mom on the phone, (17:50) trying to describe it to her, right? And like, and chat TPT understands it.
So just like, (17:55) brain dumping is so fun to do. And like really helps you to just like push past those pressure (18:01) points in those blocks in your businesses that you waste time, because like you're stuck every day, (18:07) right? I also really love to screenshot and upload to chat TPT all the time. This saves so, (18:16) so much time.
And you can use it for so many different things. But instead of trying to like, (18:20) copy paste even or describe something into chat TPT, you can totally screenshot. So for example, (18:26) I'll use this for contegration too.
If I'm scrolling through Instagram on my phone, and I see (18:31) a cute reel, or even like a meme reel, I love those meme reels. You know, making jokes and stuff. (18:39) I will be like, oh my gosh, I totally want to recreate this for my brand.
So like, I'll (18:43) screenshot it. I'll throw that screenshot into chat TPT because you have your chat TPT phone app (18:48) too. And it already understands my brand because I have my brand bot, right? So I'll throw the (18:54) screenshot and I'll be like, please brainstorm ways I can recreate this reel to fit my brand.
(18:59) You know, it can understand the humor behind the reel, like we'll just brainstorm different ways (19:05) you can make it fit your brand. You can do it for like so many different things. I'll screenshot (19:09) like presentation slides that I created a slide for a specific presentation.
Okay, now I have (19:16) a presentation on this other topic, but I have the same slide outline like screenshot that through (19:21) chat TPT for my new presentation, you know, like, there's lots of different ways that you can use (19:26) this tool and like, it doesn't have to be having the perfect prompt, you know? (19:32) Yes, that's good. That's good to know because yeah, there's like so many like prompt playbooks (19:37) out there and it's like, you can really, I mean, I found the same thing, like you said, (19:41) of like, be specific about what you're looking for. If you get, you know, not a great response (19:47) out of chat TPT, it's likely because you weren't specific enough about exactly what you were (19:52) looking for.
And using it to like brain dump into is great way to just like, (19:59) I have this thought in me, please organize my thoughts. That's such a smart way to do it just (20:05) to kind of get the ball rolling and like go from there to really develop your like, here's what (20:11) I'm actually thinking about this. Totally.
Yeah. And honestly, okay, this is gonna sound so dorky, (20:18) but it's been really, really helpful. I've been using it for mindset stuff too.
Like if I feel (20:24) triggered in the middle of my day, like if you think about it in terms of productivity, that (20:29) really hurts your productivity. If you have mindset stuff going on, like you have this like nagging (20:35) thing in your brain that's like, oh, I'm still triggered from this email that I got earlier, (20:39) but I'm having to be productive over here, you know, and you can't work through it. Like going (20:43) to vent can be super supportive.
It sounds so dorky, but it can, it can give you pep talks, (20:50) it can help you like kind of hone your thoughts around like a big idea. So for example, the US (20:58) election happened recently. And like, man, my brain after that was like, swirling around with (21:04) all these things, like all these different thoughts, personal business, you know, different (21:08) and I'm like, I feel so scattered.
I don't really know how to show up right now or like how to like (21:15) portray what I want to portray to my audience, you know. So I went to Chachi BT, I already had like (21:21) my brand foundation, it understands my brand's values, you know, and I just like brain dumped, (21:25) like, here's what's happening. Here are my thoughts on this, like, help me understand (21:30) how this relates to my brand, how I can like, do these things that I want to do, you know, (21:35) like really helped me work through that.
So then I had clarity, and I'm able to like show up more (21:41) so. And actually, it ended up spurring one of our free workshops now, brainstorm and journal (21:46) with Chachi BT, that was spurred after the US election, because I was like, I'm not the only (21:52) one who's feeling like my brain is a buzzing beehive of things right now. And like, Chachi (21:59) BT to help them with clarity.
Yeah, amazing. I love that you shared that one, because it's one (22:04) I think that we don't often think of, we just like want it to help us write faster. But if our (22:10) head is not in the right space, and like, life happens, things outside of our control happen.
(22:17) And to use it for mindset stuff is very powerful. It's like, and I want to be careful saying this. (22:25) It's like a mini therapist in your back pocket, hear me internet, I'm not saying it would ever (22:29) replace a therapist.
But it can be a great start just to kind of help you, you know, (22:36) get through the day, get back on on track. And yeah, put those thoughts into your brand voice, (22:43) so you can express how you're feeling about something in a way that's still, you know, (22:48) appropriate to what you're talking about for your brand in your business. (22:51) Yeah, yeah.
And, and, you know, communication, it's so helpful to we all know that, like, (22:57) you know, just think about business stuff, even there's like our triggers that we have. (23:01) And like, you know, you're feeling triggered from this email. And, okay, I got an email from a (23:08) woman very sweet, but she was like, you're pronouncing entrepreneur wrong.
She sent me (23:14) like this, like YouTube video about the correct way to pronounce entrepreneur and stuff. And I'm (23:18) like, okay, like, but like, well, okay, I was like, okay, I, I wasn't that triggered. And I was like, (23:26) I know she's coming from like a sweet space.
So how do I respond to this woman in a way that's (23:32) like, you know, holding my boundaries, but like, still, you know, like saying, okay, cool. Like, (23:37) you can choose to listen to me or not. It's fine.
You know, and chachi bt helped me with that. She (23:43) like it, I went and I put the email in chachi bt. And I was like, help me respond to this in a way (23:50) that's like, you know, like heartfelt, you know, but still being like, maybe, you know, shifting (23:55) perspective about, you know, and the funny thing too, was that she started the email by being I (24:01) love that you're encouraging people to be authentic.
But like, also, I hate the way you're (24:06) saying entrepreneur. So chachi bt came up with this really cute, like, you know, heartfelt email (24:15) back to her and stuff. And I thought it was like, really nice, because probably formally, I might (24:20) have ignored it.
Because like, I just wouldn't have known how to respond or like, just like (24:25) things like that. Communicating with people is like really helpful. Yeah.
Yeah, totally. Totally. (24:32) That is so good.
These are such great reminders of like, how powerful of a tool chachi bt is and (24:37) how we can use it in the right ways to get the results that we're looking for. And not kind of, (24:43) I mean, you can spin your wheels on chachi bt too, and like not get the results if you're not doing it. (24:48) You know, and these ways that you described are just so smart, to be able to use it really to (24:55) your advantage, and keep that human first authenticity in your business.
So if people (25:02) want to continue to hang out with you learn more about what you have to offer, where's the best (25:08) place to keep in touch? Yes, thank you so much. I love geeking out about this stuff. So my website (25:14) is di y with.ai. So you can go check out all my things there.
I have a reels prompt playbook for (25:25) chachi bt. And that has like five of those Madlib style prompts for reels captions, which are kind of (25:31) fun to play around with, you can see what I'm talking about. And then we have our brand blueprint (25:34) course as well there.
And Instagram is the best place to connect with me guys. Because I'm not (25:42) necessarily hanging out on LinkedIn all the time. So authentic AI for entrepreneurs is our Instagram, (25:49) send me a DM and I'd love to connect.
Yeah. Perfect. And I'll have those all in the show (25:54) notes.
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise today. Thank you so much. This was so fun.
